Background
Merle Hattink recently started a PhD at the UMC Utrecht. Last year she finished her research master Oncology at the VU. During her PhD she will focus on the DIRECT-DCIS trial, which aims to evaluate the use an AI model to predict the risk of invasive breast cancer in women with DCIS and adapt their treatment accordingly. Her main focus will be on assessing patient-reported outcomes (PROs), including anxiety levels two years after diagnosis. She is also involved in the coordination of UMBRELLA, a national initiative collecting long-term clinical and patient-reported data from individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and DCIS.
