Background
Tariq Lalmahomed (he/him) graduated as a medical doctor from the SUMMA program of Utrecht University in 2022 and in November of that year he started as a PhD candidate. His research focusses on novel implementations of MR-guided radiotherapy for localized prostate cancer and their evaluation. To this end, he coordinates the Utrecht Prostate Cohort, a regional cohort in which localized prostate cancer patients who are under active surveillance or are treated (either surgically or with radiotherapy) are followed and of whom medical data and quality of life outcomes are collected. Furthermore, he is involved in the ERECT trial which focuses on nerve-sparing radiotherapy to decrease the burden of erectile dysfunction after radiotherapy, and the TURBO trial in which a new 2-fraction radiotherapy schedule is compared to the standard treatment. He is driven by the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and advocates for the use of understandable communication towards participants of the studies he is involved with.
After completing his PhD, Tariq would like to gain clinical work experience in the field of urology before plotting his next steps.
