Background
Lois Daamen is a Medical Doctor and Clinical Epidemiologist, currently working as an Associate Professor at UMC Utrecht (The Netherlands), dedicated to advancing clinical and technical innovation in cancer research. With expertise in medicine, clinical epidemiology and medical statistics, Lois leads initiatives that aim to improve patient outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration and innovative study designs.

Lois is closely involved in the RADAR-PANC and ARCADE trials, which focus on early detection and treatment of pancreatic cancer recurrence, respectively. As principal investigator, Lois leads the nationwide LAPSTAR trial, the first randomized study evaluating the impact of stereotactic ablative MR-guided radiotherapy on quality of life and survival in locally advanced pancreatic cancer. In collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, she also drives the preclinical PRIMOPANC project, investigating multimodal treatment with tumor-specific antibodies and precision radiotherapy in pancreatic cancer. As a methodologist for the international MOMENTUM study, Lois plays a key role in evidence-based implementation of MR-guided radiotherapy. In addition, she leads the MOMENTUM-AI project, focused on training an validating AI-algorithms for workflow optimization and personalized MR-guided radiotherapy. Lois also heads the Trial Office and Innovation Clinic at UMC Utrecht.
