Last week, the ARTILLERY Project team came together for the third face-to-face meeting at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal. Over two days of in-depth discussions, we shared progress updates, aligned on upcoming goals, and strengthened the collaboration that drives the project forward.
A key part of the meeting was the gathering of the Young ARTILLERY group – a diverse and motivated team of PhD researchers with backgrounds in medical ethics, law, statistics, medicine, and AI. Their contributions, guided by senior mentors, continue to add valuable perspectives to the project.
From Utrecht, Lenny Verkooijen, Sofie Gernaat, and Sharminii Jaya Prakason represented the team and helped drive discussions around evaluation, data governance, and clinical impact.
🔬 Funded by Horizon Europe, the ARTILLERY project aims to develop, validate, and prospectively evaluate AI tools for the early detection of chronic disease risk factors in women with breast cancer, based on routine CT imaging.
